The Champion’s Brew is a weekly assembly of material I am reading, listening to, or watching that is designed to equip and call you to uncommon leadership. I often add my own little spin based on my takeaways and would love your input as well. Any of the points especially impact you? Drop me a note at [email protected], or comment on the blog to keep the conversation going! I believe you will discover that the format is not only useful, but also that you can consume it within the time it takes you to enjoy your daily ‘brew’! Here is your weekly drink of what I have been reading and experimenting with to help me to:
- Eat Healthy: Is one of your 2022 goals to lose weight? For me, healthier (note, not always healthy, but healthier… than I used to be!) eating is required to maintain some of the positive results I have seen over the past few years. To help me, I follow a few different accounts on Instagram for eating and one of the ones I get some pretty good advice and recipes from is Eating Well. Here is an article they posted a while back that still rings true for me: The Ten Best Snacks for Weight Loss, According to a Dietician. I usually have most of these around the house and #1, almonds, is a staple in the closet. My challenge often is portion size. It is so easy just to walk in the pantry and grab a palmful every so often, so the snack size one serving packs are important as well. The item I just can’t seem to add to my eating habits is the grapefruit. I just have not been able to make that daggum sour fruit taste good to me! What are your go to snacks?
- Be Happy: Saturday Night Live had been one of the shows I liked to watch for a good laugh (when I used to be able to stay up that late!0. Chris Farley, Will Ferrell, Mike Myers and Kristen Wig were a few that would have me rolling. I came across this fun article with 14 of the Best Catchphrases from SNL. They brought back a few good memories and a smile. Maybe they will trigger a smile for you as well. Which was your favorite? Of these listed “I live in a van down by the river” ignited the biggest smile. We all need some comedy in our lives. Maybe this will bring a smile to your face as well!
- Read more: Well, I hit my 2021 goal of reading 12 books and reading through the entire Bible in a year. This was a great accomplishment. I have asked a couple people for advice on “What do I do on day 366?” after reading the Bible and I heard the same thing at least 3 times… “Read it again!” – I have decided to run it back again in 2022 and go for a second journey through the Bible. This year, I am using the plan suggested my our charge called The Bible Recap. This version is a chronological trip through the Bible with an associated 8-10 minute podcast that summarizes each of the daily readings. I am excited to join my wife on the journey this year.

What you need to do:
Call to Action: What is on your reading list for 2022? To go along with the Bible recap plan in 2022, I am going to be working to read 12 more books again this year as well. I would love to do a couple audio books with bios of Uncommon leaders. Does anyone have any suggestions on a biography I simply MUST read? Please share it with me in the blog comments or email me at [email protected]
I hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of Champions Brew. If you enjoyed it, I would appreciate it if you would share it with a friend who might enjoy it as well and ask them to subscribe! I will make sure they automatically get this email every week.
Until next time, go and Grow Champions!

John, I’ve adopted your 12 book per year reading and also to read through the Bible. Now for figuring out what my ideal weight goal will be. 🙂
I look forward to hear how it is going, Keith.
