It all belongs to HIM: Choose Uncommon (The Conclusion)

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you abide in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” — John 15:5

Happy Friday, Brew Nation!

As we wrap up our journey through the “Scary Book,” we find ourselves standing at the summit. It’s been nearly two months since that incredible week in Boston—from the physical grind of the Spartan Stadion at Fenway to the intellectual spark of the Bookthinkers event. But it was the end of that week, spent with Christian business leaders, that provided the final, essential piece of the puzzle.

Today, we reach the Conclusion: It All Belongs to Him.

The Journey So Far: The “Scary Book” Roadmap

Before we reach the summit, let’s look back at the trail we’ve blazed over the last eight weeks. We struggled to reach our potential in the past because we skipped these “Hard Things”:

  • Chapters 1 , 2, 3, and, 4: The Foundation – Moving past “good enough” and deciding to build systems that remove rationalization and procrastination.
  • Chapter 5: Collect Awesome People – Auditing your circle to ensure you are surrounded by Multipliers who elevate your life.
  • Chapter 6: Run Toward Fear – Recognizing fear as a growth signal and choosing the “Bravery Effect” over the lie of comfort.
  • Chapter 7: Build Relationships Early – Intentionally making deposits into your “Relationship Bank Accounts” before you ever face a crisis.
  • Chapter 8: Mindset Mastery – Auditing your 80,000 daily thoughts and using the “Learn, Burn, Return” method to flush limiting beliefs.

The Breakthrough Gap

We often talk about growth as an internal achievement, but the clear consensus from my time in Boston was this: the source of our fruit is external. As leaders, we eventually reach a crossroads. We have to decide if we are going to settle for “good enough” in our homes and businesses, or if we are going to relinquish control to make a Kingdom difference. I made that decision years ago, and I have to manage it every single day.

The most profound insight came from Justin Roethlingshoefer (CEO of OwnIt Coaching): The gap between hearing something and actually harvesting a breakthrough is obedience. You can have the best frameworks in the world, but if you don’t “abide” and act on what you’ve heard, the breakthrough will never come.

Why We Underperform

We struggle to reach our God-given potential because we skip the “hard stuff” we’ve covered in the first eight chapters. When we ignore our circle, hide from fear, or fail to build relationship equity, we leave the door open for three silent killers:

  1. Rationalization: Making excuses for why we didn’t show up.
  2. Procrastination: Waiting for the “right time” to lead.
  3. Complacency: Settling for a “good enough” life.

The Final Choice: Choose Uncommon

Bearing fruit is the result of an intentional choice coupled with the discipline to develop yourself, your team, and your systems. We struggle when we let the silent killers of complacency and rationalization take the wheel.

Don’t underperform. Don’t be complacent. Choose excellence in 2026. Choose discipline. Choose Uncommon.

  • Quote of the Week

“Obedience to the process is the key that unlocks the door to the harvest you’ve been working for.”
